Hi everyone, I am hoping to cater my son's barmitzvah bo bayom seudah.
Can you all please give me ideas what to serve for an appetizer?
If possible, would prefer to have something cold, sitting at the guests places when they take their seats. Thank you so much

Salad with shredded meat or pastrami over it. Dressing on the side. With some sort of flatbread on the side as well.
A fruit cup or ambrosia.

thank you , how long can such a salad safely sit out on the table in an air conditioned room before guests arrive?
if I am doing it myself with one or two teenage helpers (all while dressed in my simcha clothes) then I need to know if it can be done logistically.

I was recently at a catered Bar Mitzvah that had as an appetizer a baked apple wrapped in flakey dough drizzled with a strawberry sauce. It was delicious and different.
You can always do a ceasar type salad with some small pieces of deli meat in it. Deli meat can be out for longer than fresh meat (I think).

I would say probably up to 4 hours.
But double check. I'm just guessing here.
You can also do angel hair with salmon skewers over it.
Bowls made out of wraps for the salad would also be pretty.
Or a euro salad (salad with greens, mango, strawberries, honey glazed almonds).
A fruit smoothie with a fruit skewer near it.
