I am looking for ideas for centerpieces; bowls for salads , candles etc.

Any of you into it and know of good sources to check out?
Of course I don't want to pay too much otherwise I'd book a party planner

I recognize that paying a planner any amount is not an option for many people but I want to just put out there that although I was on a budget and I'm totally capable of planning my own simcha, I chose to hire one anyhow. Being able to show up as a guest and enjoy yourself is such a value. I found someone who was just starting her career and willing to work for much cheaper than typical. Think about it. If there is any way to work it into budget, I'd do it.

If you're still determined to go it alone, Pintrest is a good place to start looking for ideas that are DIY.

I did a bar mitzvah with a planner and a bat mitzvah on my own. The bat mitzvah was so much nicer, and I was much more relaxed. I plan to do our next bar mitzvah on my own as well.

I called
The hair and makeup people
The centerpiece person
The caterer
The photographer
The entertainer
I bought all the dishes and silverware and serving things

Start by looking at what other people have done. Get inspiration for ideas, then try seeing what you can buy. And if you aren't creative yourself, then you can see if you have a friend that is creative and can help you.
Keep things simple and classy and you can't go wrong.

I plan on doing my son's bar mitzvah all on my own. I enjoy it and want to do it myself. I am so excited and looking forward to it. Its iyh in a year. So far I just decided what I want to do. I will figure out details later on. I enjoy setting up, cricuting, etc.

Yes!!
Very very doable.
Start with tablecloths so you have a general idea/ color scheme
Then vases/ centerpieces
There are many inexpensive items you can buy- trays etc to fill in.
Multiple vases with flowers also
