Yes. It was a dream store for me and if I did get a gift from there it was beyond precious to me.

Wasn't it originally a bowling alley? (that's the one from the marvelous midos time traveling episode, right?)

I can’t eat any other donuts thanks to them! Nothing measures up! Miss that store was so sad when it closed.

Can we do memories of our hometown as well, besides for stores?
BP memories in this order:
Who remembers Sury Feldman’s missing and her homecoming?
Who remembers Gideon Bash was killed for holding a hammer?
Who remembers the search for Leiby Kletzky?
Who remembers Rubashkin’s arrival from prison and the dancing on the street?

I’m old enough to remember all of them including Gideon Bash. I was a kid at the time but I remember being so traumatized!
Who remembers the ban on kosher garden? (We called it kosher chazer!)

The bowling alley I remember was across the street from the old Pathmark on Rt 59, upstairs in this old building...anyone remember?
I remember going with my sister and her friend, the night before sister's wedding! Just for a little chill.....and then eating out in this "fancy" new restaurant, I think it was located in this little building in the Pathmark parking lot that had originally been maybe a McDonalds but went Kosher. I have no recollection of what it was called, it probably didn't last so long anyway. I remember my sister ordered a side of fries, and her plate came with like, 3 fries on the side.
Aaah, those were the days......

Sury Feldman was a few years before Bash.
I don’t remember this ban. Was that a store?

Yes they were open on shabbos so they put out pashkivilim (sp?) against them. The weren’t open for too long. They were replaced by children’s place and it’s a butcher store now.

Wow. Makes sense to be banned if open Shabbos. I don’t remember it at all.

Thank you, was trying to remember the name of the ice cream store...
I recently unearthed something with a G&Sons price sticker on it and just started laughing.

I was there at 18th Avenue park waiting for Sury Feldmans homecoming but in the end she was brought straight to Maimonides. It was a Erev Shabbos.
I was there at the Gideon Bush shooting . I happen to have been eating at someone’s house around the corner . That was a creepy story .
Leib y Kletzkys story and Rubashkin both happened while I was no longer in BP but remember partaking in the gripping story of Leiby and the over joyous occasion of Rubashkin. As a young child I went Yom Tov shopping at Rubashkins with my mother in BP . She made a massive meat order in his store before the yomim tovim. I remember him working there with his father . Way before he moved to Iowa.
