My daughter is currently on medication for adhd. It is being prescribed by her pediatrician who had both myself and her teacher fill out a questionnaire to determine the diagnosis. I have no doubt that she has adhd and I can see a tremendous difference in her behavior school days when she takes it and weekends when she doesn't. I am wondering if having her privately evaluated would help her further. For anyone who had their child evaluated privately ( not by the board of ed) what information did you get from it and how did that help your child further?

I'd never give meds just based on a checklist
I did a private eval and through BOE after. I thought it was only adhd and they both said ASD
Both pointed out issues that OT and SLP can/need to deal with
Both gave me further insight into my child
And obviously qualify for services now
Absolutely give an eval
