Thinking of traveling to Acadia National Park during Chol HaMoed. Wanted to divide the drive in half, sleep over and continue in the morning while making a stop maybe in Boston or Rhode Island for a fun nice day activity. I see many of the outdoor places like ropes course options are closed for the season already. Any idea for nice outdoor stop which is fun as well? Traveling with girls ranging in ages from 3-15. Also anything not to miss out in the national Park or close by? I was disappointed that Diver Ed theater was also closed for the season. Hope the long traveling can pay off to make this an exciting Chol HaMoed experience.... any info appreciated.

We went to Acadia a few months ago and had a great time. If you're planning to drive up Cadillac mountain (definitely recommend!) you'll need a timed reservation, which you can get through the park service. Sunrise is especially beautiful.

Bar Harbor (touristy town near Acadia) was fun too. We went on a whale watch boat trip, which both the kids and adults loved. We actually liked it so much we went back the next day for their nature cruise, which is a little shorter and less expensive but we still saw some neat animals and got a history of the region from our guide. It looks like they aren't closed for the season yet so I would definitely recommend checking them out: https://www.barharborwhales.com/

Hope you have fun!

Keep in mind if there is a government shutdown the park will be closed.

Came to say both these things.

We did sunset by Cadillac mountain and it was stunning!

Bar Harbor was really cute and we went biking there

Thunderhole in the park was really cool.
