Medication is given at youngest seven for this reason.
And even seven is only if you know for sure the child needs it.
I know someone who said she didn't qualify for it until 12.
And she has adhd but with a real emphasis on the h!
And I have students who also don't receive medication (I teach first grade) because we don't know kids at that age can be forgetful messy! Antsy it's normal also If you have a kid who has adhd but can learn to live with it why not?

What Dr agreed to medicate a 4 year old without trying anything before? Even with a diagnosis of ADD we don't rush to medicate. I medicated myself when I was 25 years old. My mother refused to medicate. From 8th grade and on I really needed it. My mother still denies I needed it.
