When you schedule an appointment with a sheitel macher to get your sheitel set, do you have to drop your sheitel off in advance to get washed? How does the process usually work. Feel stupid asking the sheitel macher.

A friend did my sheitel a few times but never had anyone official do it.

You can ask the sheitel macher how much in advance she needs you to drop it off.

If it's a wash and set, yes. If it's just styling usually they do it on your head.

Yes- I usually drop it off a few days before a wash n set. Otherwise if it’s just styling for a simcha they may just tell you bring it with you day of. I think secretly many of us had the same question… lol

Yes. Set just means styled. Wash and set is both.

Yes you should probably call her back and tell her that you want it washed also. Ask her when and how you should drop it off

Before you call though- check if your shaitel actually needs a wash. I do a set every 6 weeks or so, a wash only about 3-4 times a year

Not sure how to explain exactly- I'm still figuring out for myself!
Kind of when it gets very oily and knotty, doesn't feel as 'clean'
