My boss asked if I would be willing to go to the upper west side (in nyc) for a work related event.
My work is usually in the suburbs, I almost never have to go to the city.
What’s the safety like there? Around west end ave… Jewish area. Should I be nervous to go? I’ll be driving. My boss gave me the choice, said he can find someone to go instead of me if I don’t feel comfortable.
It’s good for me personally/professionally if I go and it will also pay a significant amount (prob about $1500-2000). I don’t care so much about the extra money this year- but If I choose not to go, I will probably lose out on being chosen to go again in future years. (When I might want/need the money more)
What do you suggest?

There’s a huge Jewish singles community there with lots of Shuls. In nice weather Central Park is the place to go on shabbos for young Jewish people. I don’t want to tell you what to do but I can’t imagine it would be a problem.

It is a Jewish related event (very small event, but Jewish). I’ve been there plenty of times in the past few years for different occasions. My question really is now due to the protests… is the upper west side feeling it/effected at all? Or it’s more midtown/downtown?

I live on the UWS. I don’t think they’ve had any protests. I don’t feel unsafe here.

my family is on the UWS, haven't heard anything from them about not feeling safe.

I live on the Upper West Side. It doesn't sound like you are going to be in any dangerous areas.
