I never use glass dishes for cooking, usually tinfoils
Thinking of using glass dish to cook few pieces of chicken with potatoes for Shabbos and that it should stay hot for Friday night meal.
How long do I cook for and how do I keep it hot for the meal?
Thinking the glass should retain some heat better...

Personally I try not to cook in aluminum or tin pans, I have a great metal roaster for chicken and it has ridged bottom so that the chicken isnt swimming in the juices... I understood that cooking chicken in glass wont promote a crispy outside.
Since cooking depends on your ovens consistent heat and the size pieces of chicken, or whatever you are cooking, I would check it after 45 mins (but thats my oven so yours might be different).
I found this source https://www.bonappetit.com/sto.....metal that might explain it better.
Or you can do the old trial and error thing and see what works for you..

Specifically asking about glass bc it's a dish I already have...

I love using glass dishes to cook chicken. I think you'd cook it exactly the same (I always just follow the recipe instructions). When I'm not doing a recipe do it on 350 for at least an hour, covered. You can put it back I'm uncovered if you want them to get browned.
I always make it like this for Friday night, with potatoes on the bottom and it comes delicious!

I love how my food tastes when I cook in a glass dish. Think it comes out much tastier than when cooking in tin pan
When I do cook in foil pan, I usually line with parchment paper so it’s not unhealthy

I cook and bake almost exclusively in glass Pyrex and don’t think I really do anything different than the rare occasions when I use aluminum foil tins

Do you make sure to only put the glass in the oven once it's preheated?

I find it does cook faster and the food is tastier. To stay warm until the meal I leave shabbos mode on a lower temp than when using disposable.
