my six month old makes grunting sounds all the time. does this mean something like constipation or just practicing his voice? he doesnt have bowel movements often but when he does its not hard and doesnt seem to strain to get it out. but the sound he makes sounds like pushing grunting sound.

He might be short of breath. Babies having an asthmatic attack may grunt. Take him to a doctor.

interesting. my 6 months old also started making these sounds. exactly as you described. Not sure what it is. It's not from constipation in my experience. When I start talking to her, she'll stop making those sounds.

Mine used to do that. His pediatrician found him to he fine. Thus we concluded that he was most likely just playing with his voice. None of my other babies ever did this before.
