What do I tell her?
Is it too early to start?

Why does she want to?
Also probably better idea to trim not shave.
Shaving is very annoying and can itch like crazy.

Get her a battery operated trimmer. I got the Panasonic one on Amazon for my daughter. It’s safe and the hair won’t itch when growing back.

I don’t think it’s fair to not allow it if it really bothers her. But shaving is a terrible idea due to itching and ingrown hairs.

I used to use Nair cream when I was growing up but those chemicals. Ouch. Don’t recommend that.

If the hair is getting uncomfortable for her, then at least let her trim with scissors to start. Shaving can be tricky in an area with a lot of folds..

She said it’s bothering her. I’m worried she’s too young and she’ll hurt herself.

I have much fewerr cuts with scissors than with any razor, electric or not!! Sorry for TMI. Not talking about cutting down to the skin all the way, but just the excess, until the hair isn't long enough to make underwear fit weird.

Shaving can itch and cause ingrown hairs
She should only wax or laser…
No comment on her being 11, but in my opinion it’s way too early

How much hair does she actually have? She probably needs to get used to it. I think it’s early to be busy with it

I remember shaving without discussing it with my mother beforehand. It itched like crazy and she drove me up a wall asking what’s wrong. I never told her.

When I asked her before I got married if I should shave she completely lost asking where I get these ideas from.

I’m happy dd felt comfortable approaching me about it.

It's great she's coming to you
Keep the communication open. Tell her your concerns, tell her it might be time to take care of it, but it might also be something that's just a part of growing up to get used to...
There were only pluses to communicating. You'll get a better understanding of the situation and build trust.
Hatzalacha!
