How much are you spending apiece? Whether it's a present, gift card or cash.

I included free as an option if you are just writing a card.

Also, I'm not including this in the poll, but how much are you spending on therapist gifts? Same or more than morahs?

I live very in a community where tipping/gifts isn't the norm.

Generally the class buys something for the teachers once or twice a year.

I like to give something small for all the yomim tovim and special days, to show extra appreciation because I know how challenging my kids can be!!

I spend up to $15 per teacher and there's 18 teachers 😺😺

Rebbe is getting $36

Therapists (OT) are getting $20

For one preschool kid the school collected and asked $40 per kid (it's for two teachers and two assistants)

For a diff kid the school collected just for english teachers, they asked $25 but I gave 15 or 20, don't remember

I only have 1 DC at the moment so I can give this much, im sure once I have more I wont be able to.
I gave $50 to both playgroup teachers and a box of chocolates. For OT and SLP I gave $30 with a nice card. I give cash. I dont believe in wasting money on gifts that will be thrown out or given away. (If I am anyway spending the money I'd rather just give cash and let them buy what they want). It's a very very big stretch for us, but I am very thankful for the care she has received

I'm in Brooklyn, I have a few kids in school and never heard of this. And none of my family members or friends do this either.
And I also work in one of the above mentioned jobs and very rarely get the amount you listed
So I'm not sure where you got these numbers from...

Just saying I worked as a therapist (OT) for a few years in a large mainstream yeshiva in NY until last year (switched jobs) and most kids gave nothing. From 20-30 students per year: I got a gift (chocolate/platter/cookbook) from 1-3 kids and gelt from 1-2. And the ones that gave money was $5-10. Same for my coworkers. I was happy to get but didn't expect anything. That's life. Money is tight for everyone (hence why I switched jobs).

$50+ for a more is more substantial. The norm is more $25-$30. $200 is also not the norm for a rebbe.
But this pressure to give what others give must stop! We should all give what we can afford.

No it's totally not true. My kids are in Brooklyn schools and I work in a brooklyn school and no one I know does this.
If someone can afford it then kol hakavod (and lucky teachers!) But it's definitely not the norm

I thought it's about appreciation, not about being "substantial"? If it's truly about appreciation (and let's be brutally honest, we all know it isn't) then any amount can show appreciation, whether "substantial" or not
