If you have the option of coming to Lakewood for the summer I can tell you about Lakewood day camps.

I don't have any info OP, but gotta say you sound like a great mom! Ready to move a whole summer for your son, lucky boy!
Its interesting for me to see all these responses. Where I live OOT many kids go to overnight camp from 4th/5th on average. Many day camps don't go past that age here. Of course kids that aren't ready don't go. Many grow out of sleepover camp by 8th/9th. Interesting how diff communities have diff norms! (Most kids that go, go away for just half -under 4 weeks. Then spend time with fam / work.)
Anyway Hatzlacha OP!

And amother whose 5th grader wasn't sure - what was his other option?
So validating to hear that it's not just us |
In Lakewood, day camp is until going into 7th grade.
So day camp until sleepaway.
Are also some options in some day camps for the boys to work so if he didn't want to go to sleep away he's going to do that

Thanks! Yeah - he told me he wants to work in a backyard camp. I told him I’m fine with him working half the summer if that’s what he wants but he needs to also take time to be a kid - there’ll be plenty of time to work as he grows up. So looking for good alternatives

You might get more of what you're looking for if you retitle the thread, "day camps for 5th grade DS in Brooklyn or FR?"
