Maybe the employee is coming in and saying, I need x amount to make it worth my while to stay here, and they value the employees enough to want to keep them on. That might translate to the same thing (employees with larger family = higher salaries) but not exactly discrimination. |
You can be right but at the end of the day it’s the same. I’m not looking to sue anyone for discrimination. And I’ve been at the company for two years longer than the employees who are getting paid more.

How long has it been since you’ve gotten a raise?
Come in with a good argument and leave a little space to barter.

Agree with everyone’s points but to reiterate something important:
You cannot know someone’s financial needs based on their family size. What if a single girl supports her ailing parents. What if a young couple pays $800 a week in therapies. What if a couple with 12 kids grandmother bought their house for them? It’s such a silly over simplistic way of looking at things.

Not only is it against the law to dish out salary according to personal family needs, it's also illegal to tell employees that discussing salary is illegal.
I don't know why any of you put up with this.
