I definitely know yeshivish Ariels (but not sure if their parents were so yeshivish when they named them)
Ari would be assumed to be Ahron or Aryeh, tho

My son’s middle name is Ariel for Yerushalayim. It never would have occurred to me but it came to me the night before his bris as we were struggling to decide what if any name we should add to his first name. I think it couldn’t be more perfect.

Arielle is the girls spelling.

Ariel is not a Yeshivish name though there are a few exceptions. The ones I know are from families who became more Yeshivish.

Ariel is the spelling in The Little Mermaid.

Can I ask what his first name is, if you are open to sharing it?

Family member named her daughter Ariel. but I think in most places, Yeshivish and DL, Ariel is accepted. In Dati Leumi Yeshivot and also American. Names are getting mixed up now a days. I have a family member, Very Israeli Yeshivish and they have a daughter named Hadas. Hadas used to be for Dati Leumi but names are changing over.
