We were invited to a sibling in law for either the first days or the second days of pesach.

Which would you choose and why?

That depends.
On lots of things.

Will you be making pesach for the half you dont go?
Will you be making meals or just sleeping at home?

Is it you and your husband?
any family involved?

Have you made pesach before?

What are your circumstances?
Makes a big difference.

Personally I’d go for the second days because I enjoy making my own Seder. Also the second days tend to be more chilled and we’d be able to relax more and enjoy the company.

How old are your kids? If big enough to enjoy the Seder, I’d stay home first days.

I would go first days if I thought my kids would enjoy the seder there. I find it much easier to only prepare the second days ...Also, it's hard to come back late motzei yom tov and then start clearing up the pesach things

- yes we will be making pesach for the rest of pesach.
- we will sleep and eat there, it's 2 hours away.
- I will help with the cooking while there.
- DH and I, and our children. Our youngest 2 are similar ages to some of theirs. They are a younger couple.
- we make pesach every year and we've had them by us before.

Decide if it's easier to start off there as cooking is more intense for first days/to have more excitement for the kids first days at the guests.
Or if you'd rather clean up on M"S chol hamoed and have less to put away after pesach and go last days/if your kids need more entertainment second days and being a guest can help with that (but first days home can stretch longer especially with shabbos pretty soon after).
Both are great options and there are valid reasons that one might prefer one over the other.
Once you choose, just enjoy! Smile

I would go away for the first days. As much as I like having my own seder, it is a lot of work and I would be happy to pass on it sometimes. Also, I think for the kids it is more fun for them to be with cousins at the seder, same age or not.

Making seders are much more work than a regular YT, so if your DH isn't particular about leading his own, I'd go then. Also, everyone is so ridiculously tired after seder that it's easy to fall asleep even if the accommodations end up to be less than stellar.

So many factors.

Do you like doing sedarim at home?
Do you think you'd enjoy them more at your in-law?
