When putting a raw egg in cholent, how should you wrap it? Is Foil OK? DH thought it might give the cholent an aluminum taste....

I use foil and we've never noticed it gave the cholent a strange taste.

Hmm...there's a recipe for a Sephardic-type cholent in Spice and Spirit, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't call for the eggs to be wrapped at all...I've made it and the eggs end up with a nice brown color from cooking in the cholent.

But the eggs in Israel have a dye on the outside with dates on them... is that OK for them to wash off in the cholent?

I think the amount of dye is too tiny...

Oops, I goofed...just checked the recipe and it actually calls for HARD-BOILED eggs, I.e., cook the eggs first, peel them, and then add to the cholent. So when I made it, that's what I did. Not sure about the dye situation, but can you just cook them first?

I boil my eggs first, and with the shell I put them directly into the cholent. I just try to be careful that the eggs shouldnt crack. if they do crack I wrap them in parchment paper so the shells shouldnt get all over the cholent.

I do the same. Except the wrapping in parchment paper as they haven't cracked so far.
By the way I've heard putting aluminum foil in the cholent or soup, meaning in a pot that's cooking with other food in it, is not healthy.

Ditto. I put them in raw well before shabbos so that they are at least 3/4 cooked

I also put unwrapped eggs when I make adafina (the morrocan hamin/cholent). I just wash the shells very well.

No need to peel or wrap. I understand they use food dye for date stamps.
Actually it's better if you don't wrap, because the eggs will absorb flavours better
and the egg white will become brownish from the cholent gravy.

I usually start mine raw, but make sure to cook the cholent on a high flame for
10min (till it boils) before putting on a hot plate.

I put raw eggs in the cholent. I just put them in....and keep my cholent in the oven overnight--they cook perfectly every week--my kids are actually dissapointed when we dont have "brown eggs"
