I also have to say that I love that lots of women here write very eloquently. believe it or not, but english is my favorite subject and I view myself as a writer, love to read, and my vocabulary is very impressive. 8) I used to get mocked by the girls in my class for sounding all stuck up by using "big words" which really were the norm in my vocabulary. So I tried to tone it down irl, but still wrote the same way. My husband is an english speaker who grew up in israel so doesnt have the highest vocabulary, so if I use a high vocabulary I have to translate, so I tend to keep it simple.
So its refreshing to read people write good vocabulary in our "conversations" here on Imamother. |
What's a shirtzel?
And I still haven't been able to figure out LO? |
A shirtzel is a (white) apron that many chassidish women wear shabbos or yom tov or just to light candles.
I think the LO you are referring to is LOR, local Orthodox Rabbi. If not, I have never seen just LO on this site.

Technically go pee on a stick.
Anytime you don't know an acronym you can google it with the word "acronym".

and Sabbath - no clue. |
Shabat mode is different than disabling the safety feature - the shabat mode allows you to open and close the oven without affecting a temperature change.
Normally when you open the oven and hot air escapes the oven has to heat up (even if its so sliglhtly that you wouldnt notice its heating up) to get back to the temperature it was set to . Therefore on shabat you opening the door of a safety disabled regular oven is essentially like raising a flame on your stove. So shabat mode is a complex design that prevents this and needs certification - such as Star K.
I would think its fine to use an uncertified oven kept on on yom tov though this is just for shabat use.
