I know it's an Argentinian food, but I'm still asking here. I have a recipe for them that I did once make, but I didn't love them. Anybody have any idea what to put on the inside (I buy the wrapper) besides meat, fried onions, and spices? Thanks

I think you put hard boiled eggs and olives.

They are great I love having them at resturants.

I make "sloppy Jose" Very Happy
do a search on the site for the Manwich recipe if you can't find the sauce where you are...and make empanadas with that. Make sure the sauce is rather thick or it might make it difficult to close the dough.

Otherwise, I use a combo of tomato sauce, vinegar dash of soy, pepper salt, chili powder, garlic. I also fry up some peppers along with the meat and onions.

chanchy123, I know what the real recipe calls for, but I don't like it, thanks.
I'll try yours, mimivan, thanks.
Now, I just have to buy more wrappers because I used the ones that I have in my house for potato ones. Smile

If you want them to come out juicy and not dry then add some tomato sauce or chopped tomatoes to the filling mixture. I like them spicy so I add red pepper flakes also. Don't overcook the meat since that will make them even drier after you bake them.

I found a recipe online using breaded, sliced steak, garlic, with spices.

Haven't tried it yet, but it looks good!

I'm not particular. Whichever one I find.
