I like this thread
We all have some level of healthy dysfunction
I never make supper on Sundays or Thursdays (only Monday- Wednesday at best)
For shabbos for the main course I only make one salad and we're full (my kids are little)
I sometimes ask my kids to do a good cleanup of the playroom or basement and offer them candy as a reward

My baby is turning 20 now. I love when I’m on the couch Shabbos morning or when around when kids are going to/coming home from playgroup and I hear them singing at the top of their lungs. What’s better than a happy little shmushkie?

When we’re not having guests (we almost never do) and I make potato kugel, I eat the entire crust when it comes out of the oven. So if you’d come over to my house you’d see a very dysfunctional kugel. I always tell my kids, don’t tell anyone …
Oh yea there’s more don’t worry, but that’s what I’m sharing for now.

we're so similar! Sundays are hot dogs, deli sandwiches if I have leftover deli, or sometimes homemade pizza (frozen store-bought base, marinara sauce and cheese). Thursdays are usually either eggs on toast or my husband takes the kids to a cheap deli to buy shnitzels nuggest and latkes (super healthy!)
I also make only one course on shabbos if its just us. It would go to waste if I made more so I don't consider that dysfunction, just practicality.

Love how someone thinks serving leftovers in their tins on Sunday night exemplifies dysfunction.

Before I read the thread, my first response was sympasic pubic dysfunction IYKYK!!
my other dysfunctions are-
I never ever wash dishes. I have a cleaning lady three times a week, sometimes four, and dishes wait for her.
I'm pregnant and brushing my teeth makes me too nauseous, so I just don't.

If my baby is clean on Sunday evening, I will not bathe or pj him. He will wear the same clothing to playgroup on Monday!

I think a lot of posters are using the word "hack" and "dysfunction" interchangeably in this thread.

Friday night we do not eat a main dish. Only if we have guest. No one can move after the soup so I consider it a waste.
Shabbos day meal we start with cholent (also only if no guest). I want my kids to eat a bowl of cholent and if we eat the seudah in the right order everyone will be too full to move.
It feels dysfunctional but it works for us. Our seudos are so enjoyable this way.

Can you at least use mouthwash to protect your teeth?

When I'm pregnant I can only brush my teeth. Not mouthwash. The gargling makes me gag and vomit.

I clean between my toes a few times a week, like monkeys do. And the crazy thing is, my kids do it too.
If this doesn’t out me, I don’t know what does.

My 2 year old wore rubber rain boots to preschool every day last week even though there was not a cloud in the sky.
On shabbos and often on a regular afternoon DC will strip down and wear only underwear.
I choose my battles...

I think many of us will be outed by this same fact. Or maybe there is anonymity in numbers?

When we don't have guests there's no main course Friday night.
I make a huge pot of soup with kneidel, tons of veggies, and a whole chicken. No one is ever hungry after that anyway. If someone is really hungry two bowls of soup will fill them up.

We do this to. I don't see it as dysfunctional at all, more like practicality. Why waste my time cooking when that's all we eat anyway.
