thanks so much to all who replied. One more question: at what age did you start giving your baby a bath in the regular bathtub?

Once they could sit by themselves they always got a bath in the tub - because then they took with the others and it was faster to just give everyone together then individual baths.

Before they could sit I would sometimes just stick them in with the others and support them with one hand and wash with the others - but that was only if I was in a rush and they were due for a bath - I felt bad that the baby was missing out on the fun, relaxing experience of a bath (I really think babies like baths)

I just put very little water in the tub and let them lie down all the way, when they can't sit themselves. My babies love that and they kick their feet and splash!

What do you think of this? It's called a tummy tub & it sells for like $45 plus the stand which is $55. Sounds like a lot for a baby bath and it almost looks dangerous because the baby could slkip down into the water.

I have a tummy tub and I like it a lot. with small babies u just put in a small amount of water but u always have to stay close by. now that my baby is bigger he can sit for himself in the tummy tub. a cheaper version is the shantala bath. I never bought the stand , I put the tummy tub in the sink.

And if youre planning to buy a baby tub my advice would be, a typical no frills tub theyre the best ,you can fill it with a normal amount of water so the baby shouldnt be cold

I hav this one. I've had it since DD (4.5) was a baby and I haven't stopped using it since. (DD outgrew it when DS, 2.5 came along, who outgrew it when the baby came along, who is using it now.

I also use it as a changing table and it's a huge spacesaver, bc I don't need a changing table in the baby's room.

That's what I thought at first, but here's what I found:
1) If you have a showerhead, you can roll the bathtub right next to your shower and let the showerhead fill the bath while you play with the baby
2) I never fill the bathtub up. Well maybe when they're really little and not sitting so I have to hold them anyways, but once they're sitting I only fill up like 3-4 inches (or enough to cover their legs) I also find that the kli for negel vasser is the perfect size for filling up the tub.
