My 20 month old son has started waking up 3 or 4 times a night. He will not stop crying on his own, so dh or I go to him and soothe him for about 20 mins at least till he calms down. Once or twice it seemed like he had a nightmare, but otherwise he just wants to come out! Before the past week or so, he was sleeping through the night fine, waking up in middle of the night very rarely.
I am due in 3 weeks and really want him to be sleeping through the night well before my new baby comes! Any advice appreciated.

This new nighttime issue has also transferred to bedtime...ds has cried and screamed for the past two and half hours before falling asleep as I sang him a song...both dh and I went into him to try to calm him and put him to bed during that time. Please, if anyone has any advice it would be realy appreciated.

I don't have any advice for you, but I can tell you that I DEFINITELY understand what you are going through...I am also due in a few weeks and my 23 month old has just recently started waking up a bunch of times at night and NOTHING we do can make him go back to sleep. He doesn't always cry, but he calls for us and unless we go to him, then he will start crying. HELP!!! We are at a total loss...last night, after being up with him for an hour, and after he woke up his baby sister, I finally caved in a gave him milk in a bottle, which he ONLY gets in the morning and that helped him. He fell asleep. But I reeeeeaallly don't want to do that...he also hasn't been taking his nap regularly...he fights it until we finally take him out. But he's not ready to give it up yet, because he gets so tired throughout the day and can't function (I can't function! ) So in a nutshell, yeah, I can definitely commiserate with you. HUGS!!!

That's funny, my 20 month old just started to do the same thing. Well, not so funny. I'm seriously tired all day from lack of normal sleep. He'll usually sleep till the early hours of the morning (3,4,5 AM) and then we bring him into our room to sleep until 6:30 or so but he wakes up every hour or so for a water bottle. No solution yet.
