I have an infant boy that I am growing his hair till he's 3. But there is a problem - on the upper side of his face he has a mole with some hair coming out of it. It's not scalp hair as far as I can tell but the hair is going in to his eyes and bothering him. Can I trim that hair and still be growing his hair out?

You know that upsherin is a MINHAG, right? So even if in your community it's done that way, sometimes there's a good reason not to. I would have the mole checked out by a physician before you do anything else, if you haven't already...then go ahead and trim that hair!

I know it's a minhag but I really want to do it.
We did go to doctors already, yes. It's going in to his eye so I don't have much of a choice but since it's not scalp hair I think I can do it and still grow out his hair.

I'm pretty sure it should be fine. Many Rabanim allow cutting a kids bangs if they grow in the eyes before the Upsherin, and this sounds like even less of a problem.
