my 20 month old daughter is a poor eater, shes underweight, she has only gained a pound in a half yr. her pediatritian advises adding formula to her diet. do you think its a good idea? or will I t fill her up on liquid and she wont get better at eating real food. I'd be so appreciative if you can advise.

how much does she weigh? some kids will always be more petite.

she weighs only 20 lbs, shes quite thin. she barely gained a lb since september. I'd love to get ideas from u moms. I serve her food creatively, and that gets her to eat more, but its not sufficient.

was she nursed before? we switched my daughter to formula at 10 months, now at 16 months we are switching her to a higher calorie one....

take her to a gastro to check for underlying reasons.... she might have reflux or digestion issues

Definately take her to a GI.
Try the formula. Hopefully it will make a difference. If she won't drink the formula because she doesn't like it, get a prescription for 028 Splash, a high calorie box drink that is used instead of formula, for kids over 1.
Some ideas:
drizzle olive oil over her food before feeding it to her
saute vegetables like broccoli in butter (if she can have dairy)
