Hi everyone,

Up until now I have typically worn suits on shabbos, but it is just getting to hot to wear them so I would like some new ideas of what to wear for those who know more about this type of thing than I do.

Here are my criteria:

1. Must be very tznius (Rabbi Falk criteria)
2. Should look quite nice
3. Should be cool for summer (relatively speaking)
4. Should not be all black. Some black is okay, but all black is too depressing.

Any thoughts?

What about dresses, or sleeveless dresses with a t-shirt or shirt underneath? Or a thin cardigan.

If it's really hot, the best would be if you can find dressy skirt and shirt ensembles.

I also used to wear summer suits but find a skirt and blouse a better alternative; a thin cotton dressy blouse looks quite nice with a shell underneath (see my previous posts about the B@@b blocker that I have bought in several colors).

Look at Syms, Dress Barn, etc.

Can you find pictures of the different things that you are referring to? What type of dresses?

What are Rabbi Falk's criteria? I'd like to offer suggestions but I'm not familiar with these requirements.

Not too tight, high neckline (preferably with a collar of some type or more than one layer), not red, covers knees well when sitting, etc.

How about a sheath dress with a cardigan? Something like this (but not in red and not $1,300 Wink )

How about a cotton skirt with a shell and a sleeveless roomy top over it. You can get one that has stones or designs on it.

I love really pretty blouses with straight skirts. Like this, but w/o the jacket:

floral dresse are also great for the summer, either alone or with a t-shirt or cardigan

(I'm having a terrible time finding tznius (or close to it) examples on-line, which is probably why my personal shopper prefers brick and mortar stores)

Thanks for the suggestions. Keep them coming

(The floral dresses are a bit too bright for me though)

Keeping this to the lower-end side ...

Target has some very cute 3/4 sleeve cardigans, Pair them with a tee shirt or shell and a simple skirt, or over a sheath dress, and you're set:

You could even put it over something like this:

Sure, the back is low, but it will be covered with the cardigan.

Kohls also has some very cute dresses this year.

Good luck.

I prefer the dressy cardigans and light skirts also, especially linen skirts. Also look for light jackets (thin material, no lining).
