Some of the posters on imamother give out a lot of personal details and/or a lot of people know who lurks behind the screenname.
Then, on other posts they give personal/negative information about people they know or even family members (without using amother). I would think this is a problem of Loshon Horo for those who can identify the main characters in the 'plot'.

1. The Torah says we should think.
2. The Torah says we shouldn't talk, write or read LH.

As I often say...
if you have a problem wqith ME please speak to me directly. I don't bite.
To write ambigious posts on this board does no one any good.

I certainly wasn't intending you specifically. I was talking about a general problem that has come up a number of times. (And maybe more than I know since I don't know how many people here have lots of people who know who they are.)

I agree with you, Mummyof6. If I post a personal situation with lashen hara, I am careful to use amother.
A few people know who I am, I guess I'm not good at hiding myself.

funny cause I was thinking of starting a thread like this myself, after reading the post do u know what happened to .................. how did she die? or she had triplets was she on any pills, or she's getting married so young I wonder why?
personally besides the nosiness and l''h it's not your business and if I was one of those mentioned and read it here I would be very embarrassed and disgusted

I am no expert on loshen horah, but I just wanted to make a comment. A lot of times there are posts on this site dissecting sad news events to such an extent that it certainly is in my opinion - loshen horah. Who really needs to know all the who, what where and hows??!! The written word in my opinion is stronger than the verbally transmitted word and causes more damage as these posts stay "alive" forever-even when they eventualy get locked.
Now, regarding this topic where amother feels that posters are not truly anonymous and that a lot of people know each other. I strongly agree. Not only is it loshen horah- it is extremely DANGEROUS. A lot of times there are very personal posts under screen names and some of the times it is possible to determine the author of the anonymous posts. This should be kept in mind for this site as well as for other sites that do not have this anonymous feature at all- lots of people use the same screen name on different frum forums.
You really don't know who lurks behind these screen names or who is lurking around without posting. It could be your neighbor, or best friend or even your mother or mother- in law!!! Call me paranoid if you wish, but as Sara G pointed out, changing facts around is not such a bad idea!
there are many potential shalom bayis issues, loshen horah issues, challilah, that could arise!!!!

I think people should stop getting bashed for using the anonymous, amother option.
people are different, some people like to be super anonymous, some dont care - each one of those options are good.
if its an amother, at least we wont know who exactly is doing the bashing or it will be harder to identify who theyre talking about.

Young man to his kalloh: Why is it that women assume that any statement about "women" applies to them personally?
Kalloh: I don't.
