So what are we having? How about a big sloppy piece of meat with a mountain of spicy fries? Yum.

I prefer the 18th avenue dougie's to the one that's uptown.

I wonder what happened to Dougie's on 72nd street? It was always packed. It's strange that it closed.

I've never been such Dougie's fan, I don't hate it, but don't care for the sauce that they dump on nearly everything.

It had nothing to do with people buying or not (they were doing well). I heard from an UNRELIABLE source that the new partners had a disagreement or something. Still doesn’t change the taste of the vegetable tempura for me though…

I know, it was always packed. That's why I'm curious about what happened. If it was always empty, there wouldn't be much to wonder about!

Oh I looooove those Fire Poppers!

I don't know why all the kosher restaurants have been closing down on 72nd Street. First Dougie's, then the Dairy J Cafe/Lubavitch bookstore. Nargila that moved into Dougie's is so-so. I sorely miss the Vodka Penne from Cafe J! Pizza Cave even changed ownership and the slices of pizza are now gigantic, but soggy and tasteless.

Those fire poppers are awesome! Everytime I'm in brooklyn we make sure to go there! My husband loves their pastrami burgers and I love the poppers! Their deli salads are awesome too!

Yes, the crayons rock. And I love eating sloppy unhealthy food and being ill all night. Yum.

so what do u recommend from there. I'm not into "a good steak" and franks and burgers are garbage to me- besides I always reget eating them later in the evening! so the only other main dish is cutlets, which I can make on my own! (sushi is out and salads I'm fine with as an appetizer!)

The vegetable tempura is fabulous and the steak caeser salad is heavenly. The steak and chicken basket is expensive but amazing, if you will share it with someone. I am also addicted to the sweet potato chips (thin round slices). <drool>

I prefer the fire poppers to the buffalo wings. THey're the same thing, but the fire poppers are pieces of white meat chicken... so there's no bones or skin!

Their portions are huge, prices are good and so is the food.

I had one of my Sheva Brachot there.

Whenever we're in NY, we make it a point to go at least once.

I must be the only person left that does not like dougies. to my taste, everything is too spicy, even the veggies. but I can see why ppl like it though.
