My 2 year old stinks now really badly. He smells like he ate a whole head of raw garlic, only he didn't. I brushed his teeth and tongue very well and gave him a bath, and he still smells. Any suggestions? What can be causing this? He's been stinking like this at least for the past 16 hours and its really uncomfortable to be around him.
He's potty trained, FTR.

a few thoughts come to mind:
1. just eating a small amount of fresh (or cooked) garlic can cause someone to stink like garlic, so wait another 24 hours and it should pass.
2. someone once told me that their kid smelled real bad and it turned out that he had stunk some kind of food up his nose and the doctor got it out for her.
3. when my kids eat too much milk products my kids smell.
4. one of my kids has a sensitivity to wheat and so whenever she eats just a small amount, she reeks.
5. has your child eaten a lot of a particular food, etc, recently.
6. infection in the body can cause a smell.
if it doesn't go away soon, or he starts acting ill, take him to the doctor.

He had no raw garlic whatsoever, not even the tiniest little bit.
His diet yesterday was no different than it usually is, so I can't figure out why that would be.
The bad smell is concentrated near his face, and knowing my son's personality, it might be that he stuck something up his nose. Any way to check that without a visit to the doctor?
I don't think he has an infection, and an infection smells different than this, from my experience.

if u think he stuck food up his nose you should take him to the doc asap-- some foods can soak up water and expand in his nose, causing choking
