I have a 13=year old son with ADHD/learning issues. He is a very sweet, smart boy but has a hard time with schoolwork. I am just wondering if people have suggestions about which mesivtas are good for boys like this - NOT at-risk, NOT off the derech, but still not mainstream? It has been hard to find somewhere that seems like it would be a good match for him. We are in the NY/NJ area but would consider out of town possibly if we can't find anything here. We are Yeshivish, but are open to places that are a little less yeshivish than we are if it is the right place for him.

I recently read about a yeshiva in Miami called Doresh. The article made it seem like an awesome place.

Check out Yeshiva Shaare Arazim in Monsey. Really an amazing school. Besides for all the typical high school learning, all their boys learn some sort of talent to keep them busy.. they have kids that play at weddings, a band.. etc.. Succos time their boys all go out and help elderly people build sukkahs.. The principals/teachers really work with the kids there.

Yeshivas Doresh in Miami is a wonderful place for boys with learning issues. My son has been there for 4 years and he is doing great. Best thing we did for him. Check out their website www.doresh.org
