I bought some tuna salad today at a lunch-y type store. It's a good store, I trust their food to be clean and fresh, but I'm feeling ever so slightly sketchy about it because I bought it as they were closing so I guess it was probably out for a while, though in a refrigerated case. It then lived in an insulated bag until I got home a couple of hours later. Now it's in my fridge at home.
How long would you expect this to last? I'd really like to have it for lunch on Tuesday but I'm not sure I should let it wait that long... but on Monday I can easily buy lunch where I'm working while on Tuesday I will really need to bring from home and would like to treat myself.
This might sound silly but this store is not in my home city and they really make the best tuna salad! No idea why in the world I can't seem to make it as good myself but this is a real treat for me!

Supposedly, it will be fine on Tuesday- http://www.foodsafety.gov/keep......html
However, I would definitely sniff first, and have dh taste it on the morning of. And then I would probably say, never mind, I don't think I'll eat it. And then dh would say I'm crazy, but he would secretly be happy to eat it (but annoyed that I wasted money on it. )
But that's just me

So 3 days means Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, right? 3-5 means this is a little borderline especially since I don't know how cold the luncheonette counter thing was and then it was in my car (in an insulated bag, but still...) for another couple of hours... hmmmmmm
I'm pregnant so I want my crave but don't want to take any chances
Maybe I'll take a sandwich on Monday just to make sure I get my chance and leave some over to sniff on Tuesday. I bought enough to use twice probably (well, the thought was "enough to share with DH probably." But he's not QUITE as picky. He would enjoy a treat but not crave it, and he would eat regular can tuna too). Though I can never tell with sniffing.
I really need to get a life and stop posting my lunch woes on semi-anonymous chat websites. What I REALLY need is to know what it is that makes Bagel Hole tuna taste so much better than home tuna. Anyone?! I only go to Flatbush once in a blue moon, but used to live a stone's throw from there and it's practically the only thing I miss. Expensive, too.
