Can any of you who have been published in Mishpacha help me out with this? They accepted two personal essays of mine in January and have yet to run either one. I am new to this. What kind of turnaround time is typical for Mishpacha and the other magazines? I have some other pieces, and I'd like to submit them to Mishpacha since they're the only magazine I have experience with, but if another magazine has a quicker turnaround I'd rather submit there.

Thanks! I read through that thread and found it informative, but most of it deals with 1) waiting to hear if your piece has been accepted and 2) waiting to be paid once it has run. Whereas I would like to specifically know about the time period in between, after it has been accepted but before it has run.

Maybe email Mishpacha and ask them when your piece will run.

Yes, you should email them to find out. I handle submissions for an online publication and we have a complex internal review and editorial process, plus we set things up a few weeks in advance, so it does often take a while. Usually when I accept a piece I don't know yet how long it will take till it gets published, but if authors email me to ask, I'm happy to update them on where it's holding.
