I raised my children
watched over them
applauded them
encouraged them.
I did it alone.
Now they've grown
and left home
without a backward glance
at the one who held their hand
still alone.

T&P- I know you meant it as a compliment - although I've been forced by life circumstances to become strong, I'd rather be loved.
