I would let her go, but make sure she knows how to keep her money safe, and arrange for her to check in with you somehow, especially if this is her first time.

OP here. Wow, you guys are really amazing! I cannot tell you how much I have appreciated all of the responses. They really helped me work out the issue in my mind, and see it from another perspective. Thank you so much for your time and effort.
An update: She went, (dh was leaning toward that opinion, and seeing everyone's thoughts on the matter here helped me see that it was something I should rethink) and it worked out fine! Dh was in communication with her all day, no glitches aside from a fairly long delay at Atlantic Avenue, and the Q changing to a N. But they managed
