Is there a difference in taste / texture of a regular donut recipe and specifically a Sufganiyot recipe ? If yes, which ones are better ? Smile

Sufganiyot is just the hebrew word for donuts. Typically, the yeast dough, deep fried ones traditionally filled with jelly (or plain). As long as you are working with a yeast dough recipe, it really shouldn't matter what they are called. Some recipes are "breadier" and some are lighter and/or sweeter. Its a matter of personal preference. I don't have a recipe to offer you though, because I am terrified of deep frying and I hate the smell.

Some people prefer the cakey doughnuts, those are completely different. And I don't think they are deep fried either, so they won't bear a connection to Chanuka and the custom of eating fried foods.
