Any ideas what to do with button mushrooms?
I bought a pack for the flat bread salad, and it's waaaay too much.
Cant really freeze them, can I?

I need ideas how to use them, or how to keep them fresh until next week.

TIA!

you can use them just like you would use any other mainstream mushroom.
how about a mushroom sauce (for over borekas, knishes, chicken...)
or stuffed mushrooms.
ill keep thinking, but those are my ideas for now.

Saute onions and mushrooms in some oil with paprika, black pepper, garlic powder and salt. When soft take out and set aside. Sprinkle cutlets with paprika, garlic and onion powder, black pepper and some honey. Turn over few times till cooked and serve with the onions and mushrooms.
it's yum!

WOW- how do I make stuffed mushrooms? And don't they only work with the big mushrooms?

Mosma- thanks for that! Sounds delic! However, I'm not making cutlets until next week, and don't think the mushrooms will keep fresh that long. Will they?

Bt I definitely gotta try that recipe one day!

Probably not. Why not just eat them plain dipped in some salad dressing for a snack? Or you can sautée them with onions and serve them on shabbos with ur egg salad.

We loooove mushrooms. I add them to chicken (with bbq sauce), throw them into stews, omelets, rice, quinoa, ontop of pizza...

I'm making myself hungry.

I made AWESOME mushroom barley soup with 4 containers of mushrooms - the kids LOVED it. So good for a hearty meal.

Raw mushrooms will not stay fresh till next week. They are good sauted in oil and sprinkled with salt (and other spices if you want). You can serve it with rice, or really with anything.

you can make a mushroom quiche or mushroom barley soup. both of those will freeze well. Or, you can use raw in salad, cooked in omelettes, pasta with creamy mushroom sauce, sauteed mushrooms and onions stuffed bourekas (puff pastry dough), mixed into a stir fry with other veggies like peppers, baby corn, carrots, onions or any veg for chicken or beef stir fry over rice

After you saute them with onions, you can freeze them and then use them in a soup, rice or sauce whenever you want.

Sauteed mushrooms freeze beautifully. If you don't have a use for them now, sauté them and stick them in the freezer until you do.

Or, as suggested, mushroom barley soup.
And for tomorrow night you can make pizza, go easy on the cheese and heavy on the mushrooms.

Pink fridge, my point is that I don't want to use them until next week.
We had enough mushrooms for now! Thanks for the ideas though!

For stuffed button mushrooms, pull out the stalk and stuff inside the cavity...
they are cute, small, and fun!
