I'm not 100% sure yet, but I think I'm doing "Mexican" this year:

Homemade Salsa
Corn Chips
Beer

What is everybody sending this year?

I did a lunch theme a couple of times - Bodek salad, Snapple, instant soup, bagel and a can of tuna (I think). DD has done breakfast too - donut and Mehadrin iced coffee.

But usually we send food that's for the seudah, if we know the ppl would like that, or healthy nosh that they will eat....this year it's a dried fruit and nut platter, that I'll prob. give with a seltzer.

DH likes to bake hamantaschen, and give them with a fancy beer and some fruit.

Am I the only one who hates getting home made stuff. Anything not in a sealed package goes straight into the garbage or home with my goya.

amother, I'm with you on that one....
I kinda get grossed out with homemade stuff, especially when they tell you that the kids helped bake....

Depends what and from whom. A nice round chocolate cake from a SIL is very practical and useful. Little 'gepatchketa' things from who-knows-who, usually get thrown out (unless one of the kids davka want it).

Btw, did you ever watch what goes on in the bakeries and factories? You probably wouldn't want to eat packaged foods either Confused

Yeah - I do not eat other's food - the thought makes me sick Puke - but I make my own hamentash and that is what I give out - with some booze of course! Drunken Smile I think it depends on how pretty they look - I have been known to make them all exactly the same and people are usually waiting for mine!!!

DH is giving grapes, a single big store bought Hamantasch, and a fancy beer.

I got big divided nut platters which I am giving with a big bottled water, nice enough to put on the table for the seudah.

I give home-made stuff but make sure to enclose a label that says, "Baked by Smith Family" so they know who made it.

Have to make 30 on a tight kollel budget:

laffy taffy
a box of raisins (the normal size, not the teeny tiny ones that have only 20 raisins)
a bag of potato chips

Not so healthy, but the healthy stuff costs a lot more money (and for 30 it adds up!)
