So I look forward to reading the lifelines in Mishpachah every week as I like how it's presented. I usually read the Ami Living before though. Well I read a story I think in the clean bill that wasn't so well written so I sort of skimmed it. When I came to the lifelines and it was the SAME story I was so annoyed!! It ruined it for me because lifelines have a really nice way of writing and I already had read it. It was so annoying and it was the same week.

Why don't publications have a protocol that if you send in a story and they publish it they have rights that you can't send it to another one. It just makes it so stupid.

So why don't they implement it?

Ami has the same rule. Sounds like a goof on the writer's part!

If the story appears in competing publications on the same week, they wouldn't know beforehand. Responsibility here would appear to be story's source.

Exactly. I'm a writer for one of these mags and I definitely see how the source of information is to blame here- unless both writers acquired their information from different sources. How is the editor to know that another mag will be publishing the identical story that week? As far as I know, they don't recruit spies for the task.
