I keep hearing one beep in my apartment, like maybe the beep that you hear from the smoke alarm when its dying. but its not coming from my alarm. it sounds like it may be coming from somewhere in my kitchen, where theres no smoke alarm. it started before I had any fire/oven on, so it cant be something from that
any idea what it can be?

op here, thank you! I just turned off my second freezer, but I didn't unplug it. the door was open. so now well see if the beeping stops, because I unplugged it

never mind, I couldn't imagine it was the freezer anyway because it was turned off. but I heard the beeping again.
im going to try to locate exactly where the beep is coming from. its not a microwave, I doubt its any sort of timer, & I hope its not a carbon monoxide detector.
the beep is actually a shorter beep than the smoke alarm when the battery is low

go unplug every appliance in your kitchen (one at a time) and wait 5 minutes to see if it was the culprit.
so weird.
also could it be something outside? like under your kitchen window?
I recently had a dead battery alarm type beeping in my kitchen... but it turned out it was the neighbors who we share a porch with (and my kitchen is the closest room to their apartment.)

I once had this. End up being an old smoke alarm which we had forgotten that we had stored in the bottom of a cabinet.

op here
after listening out a little more, though not overly into it because waiting for the beep to see where its coming from is like watching a pot; it never boils!
the beeping is about once every 3-5 minutes
I realized though that its not coming from my kitchen, it sounds more like from the living room, though im not 100% sure
my carbon monoxide detector is the same device as my smoke detector, and I really don't think its from there. I don't have any uninstalled smoke detectors
I think that takes care of everyones guesses, besides busydev. maybe its coming from outside? I highly doubt it because it sure sounds like its inside. thanks for all your suggestions though! maybe ill try to listen to where exactly its coming from again, because im getting real curious!! (and if it is from the carbon monoxide alarm I need to know!)

do you have a water detector alarm anywhere hidden in the basement?
Ours went off one night, and it took the fire department 20 minutes to figure it out.

No, if it's actualy carbon monoxide it wouldn't be a beep every few minutes. It sounds like a low battery in one of your smoke detectors. Check them out.

No, if it's actually carbon monoxide OP wouldn't still be posting on this thread.

My (land line) phone started making an annoying beep like that if there were any unopened messages.

Reminds me of the FRIENDS episode with Phoebe's malfunctioning smoke detector. LOL.
I think your beep is coming from outside the house, if you havent been able to locate it. Or it's from an old smoke detector lying in a closet somewhere.
