I'm just wondering, is there anyone here who did NOT go on the pilot trip with their husband? Money is tight for us, so the plan is for dh to go on the pilot trip himself, as whatever money we can save is more we'll have for Aliyah. My dh is perfectly happy with this arrangement, but it's really stressing me out. I know I'll ask him questions that he won't know the answer to because he didn't think to ask. He's a super smart, great guy, don't get me wrong, it's just that our brains work differently. I feel so nervous to not be a part of something so big and important. Has anyone here left the pilot trip up to dh? I would really love some advice and encouragement. And I'd love to hear from other women who made aliyah without going on the pilot trip. Thanks!

We never went on a pilot trip at all. Heck we bought our apartment basee off of photos fom the agent in a town in israel we had never been to. So yes. I think u do not need to be on a pilot trip if you are willing to have faith it will all work out as hashem wants it to no matter what u do or do not do.

I think that if you come with the understanding that whatever place you choose in the beginning to live does not have to be permanant, it is not so bad to come without a pilot trip at all. It takes quite a while to get everything set up, get yourself situated, learn your surroundings, make friends with the neighbors, etc that time passes by quickly and you can go around the country more relaxed to try to find the right community for your family.

If your dh can come, all the better. Go over a list of important questions before you go and make sure he gets a cell plan that includes international calls so he can call you when he is somewhere you want to hear about in real time (so he can get more info right then) and even if it is in the middle of the night for you, you can be involved. Small sacrifice for not going yourself.

Have you been here before to know what questions to ask? It helps if you know what areas you are most interested in or if you have family nearby that you would like to live near, etc.
