I can't imagine how I would do it? NOTHING stays on my head properly. Not tichel, not pretied. Not beret, not hat. even non slip head bands don't stay on my head. LIke LULU lemon. Like Goody Brand. Nothing stays on my head. Ever. Drives me insane. I grew my hair from buzzed thinking that might help but not.

Anyone else have this issue?

A wig cap, then a synthetic wig on top of that.

http://thewigcompany.com/wig-cap-liner/p/991/

The cap keeps the wig from itching, and keeps it from getting sweaty, so it lasts longer. If you dance madly in it, the wig might move around on top of the cap. That's ok. You get a lot of caps, change daily, and they go into the washing machine in a mesh laundry bag. Some machine dry them, some air dry.

This is a wig shampoo:

They make a wig conditioner, too.

Have a few wig stands. You will be pressing the washed wig in a towel, then putting it on this overnight:

I only use a very wide tooth comb. The set stays in.

There could be plenty of reasons, from the shape of your head, the size etc. Is your head really big or really small? Most likely, it's your hair and not knowing exactly how to put it. Many (most) things besides wigs with good combs shift, and then half way through the day, you put them back. I wouldn't wear a stocking cap under a wig, you'd be sweating all day.

If I want to wear those huge tichels, it's a wig grip, then a bobo, and then one or two tichels. It's too much. Keep it simple, and find something that works.

How do you keep your hair and what exactly is the issue?

I LOVE these hats! When I have a migraine I can't wear my sheitel, and I don't like to wear a tichel outside the house.

They really do cover all the hair (if you can get it into a small pony) and they are soooo comfortable. You can wear it all day and forget it's even on. In bright sunlight, the small brim is just right for protecting your eyes, without it feeling like you're wearing something huge on your head. If you buzz your hair again, these hats WILL NOT SLIP. I promise.

Very easy to resize. If the hat is too small when you buy it, get it really wet and then stretch it out. Don't machine dry. If it's too small, wash it on hot and throw it in the dryer.

Being as they are cotton, you can even use fabric dye and match them to outfits that have an odd shade. Sometimes I wrap a contrasting skinny scarf about the band, and add a silk flower to dress them up for Shabbos. I always get compliments.

If you wanted to wear a shaitel, part of the service you pay for is having them find a wig that will fit your head properly. They can make adjustments on ready made wigs, or custom fit one for you.

I hate the way wigs look. I have never seen one that didn't look like one. That would be the least likely thing I would ever cover with.

That will never happen. I think they are awful. And ugly. Even nicer ones. They all look like wigs.

I have seen these. They are cute. I have bought so man things though and they all fall off

A wig will look like a wig. A hat will look like a hat. A scarf will look like a scarf.

No way around it.

You can also sew wig clips into anything- hats, scarves- and clip it onto your hair so it won't slip off. I know guys who use them in their kippa.

chanamiriam,

by nonslip headbands, do you mean the velvet type? if so, does it have velvet on both sides? it should. if you wear a velvet headband backwards, it will slip worse than without one. feel the velvet to see which way the grain is going. or you can rub it against your hair in various directions. the direction that provides the most resistance when you rub from your hairline back is the one you want to wear it in. play around with it. they do keep the tichels on. nothing else holds my hair. and I find that I need scrunchies to keep the bun relatively stable without causing headaches.

I have only used the ones with rubber type grips

Yes that's why I asked about keeping hats and it helps on.....

I also sweat profusely and have oily hair. Everything I wear needs to be washable every couple of days or it smells. And believe me, I can smell when my Frum friends haven't washed their wigs.

try a double-sided velvet wig grip headband. if you don't want to buy one, I can tell you how to make one easily.

I bought a big bag of wig clips on eBay for a couple of dollars. So it isn't a huge investment if you want to try sewing some into the hats and scarves you already own.

my shaitels, tichels alsways slup off my head. my hear is just so thin and soft. so I put in a small braid in the front, and put the pin of the shaitel thrue it. and it doesnt fall off. it also help my tichel from sliding off my head.
