this is a problem my neighbor is having. she just upgraded from windows 98 to windows xp. then using nero, like she always in the past did, she tried to fix up music, I think cutting out parts and moving it and stuff (I'm not clear 100% on what exactly she's trying to do). and she got an error message "retail only" and it didn't allow her ot do her thing. why would an upgrade cause this (that was the only change)? what does it mean and what can she do to fix it?

Most likely her license got lost in the registry when she upgraded. She should do help > about and contact the nero guys and tell them she has a ‘New computer’ and needs an updated license or registration information. They usually send it back with detailed instructions.
