How to prevent yolk from getting into whites when separating?

I always seem to get the tiniest bit of yolk into egg whites, which messes up the egg whites from beating up properly. What's the solution?

its easier to separate eggs when they're cold from the fridge.

if you break the egg into a glass w/o breaking the yolk, you can easily remove the yolk from the white by scooping it out w/ your fingers.

ditto - also try not to bang against bowl too many times ... one or two firm is better this way shell does not have so many frayed sharp pieces that can break the yolk ...
