I wasn't sure whether to post this under Chinuch or working issues but in the end chose here because it's really an issue relating to work.
DH is an attorney in a Manhattan law firm and has become friendly with a recruiter who has sent him on several promising job interviews. They have a professional friendly relationship (ie we bought her a baby present when she had a baby). The recruiter has a sister who plays for a professional sports team and she (recruiter) always talks about going with my DH and my DD ((13) to one of her sister's games. They were supposed to go another time but I had to cancel for whatever reason.
Now, they are supposed to got next week to a game in Madison Square Garden and DD just remembered she has a science fair in school that night! If I cancel again, it will DEFINITELY seem like we're just making excuses. DD doesn't really care one way or another-she wants to go to the game but feels bad for her partner in the science fair if she doesn't go. . .
What would you do?

I understand why DH should go to the game, but not DD. And wouldn't it be more typical for the recruiter to have invited DH and you? But I'm not in this industry.
Can someone else go in DD's place? Perhaps you, if DD doesn't mind you missing the science fair (if transporting DD to and from science fair is an issue, perhaps she can get a ride with her partner's parent?), or another sibling, niece or nephew, or friend of DH? Or perhaps DH could just go by himself and allow the recruiter to sell/give away the other ticket?
