Does it bother you when people don't put salt on the table?
It drives me crazy when people don't put salt out - especially b/c I love salting my food and even though the food might be very tasty, the hostess might think that I think her food is bland if I specifically ask for salt.

In my opinion, salt and pepper should always be on the table.

My in-laws put salt on the table for shabbos (b/c of the challah), but when we eat there any other day of the week, it's not out, and I think she always feels insulted when I ask for it.

HELLO! Salt and pepper are just as important as a knife and fork!!!

that's something to think about because I like to salt food whenever I eat out, but I never put it out in my own home.

I grew up with a dad and sister with heart problems. We didn’t have salt in the house, let alone sitting out on the table!!!!

I still can’t tolerate much salt, I could just never get used to it – and anyway, Defy, added salt is not really healthy unless s/o is a big shvitzer!

salt can be healthy- I generally have low blood pressure and have been known to pass out because of it. salt only helps the matter. which is good because I'd probably add it anyway.

Sea salt is much better for you than regular table salt, by the way. Tongue Out

GR, it's very important!!!

I look at it this way, even if the food is good, it'll be even BETTER with some salt.

I'm not insulted if someone likes their food spiced differently than I spice it. People have different tastes, it's perfectly understandable.
My mil has her own spice cache here which she brings to the table every time we eat. LOL

I add salt most of the time to my food, because I like things very salted, so its just inconvinient when people don't have salt already on the table...

And I am wondering- those of you that like salt- do you have low blood pressure? I do, as did that person above me... I'm wondering if your body naturally craves what it needs... which in our case is salt?

My blood pressure is right where it should be, sometimes a little on the high end of normal.

You're young, Defy. Who knows what a lifetime of over salting food can do?

Putting salt on the table is a segulah for parnassa.

Maybe you can print out the source, buy some salt shakers & give it to ur mil as a mothers day present Smile

but im also guilty of not doing it. I'd rather have sugar on the table than salt 8)

I've heard it numerous times over the years.
my father once showed me the source- I can ask him to find it if he's not busy...
