OMG! Are people actually comparing Ateres Tzvi to Ashar??
Ashar is MO, high education (highest in the area). Ateres Tzvi is a Chasidish cheder with a mediocre education, but no real science etc. They teach the basics like math & reading. IIRC, multiplication is taught in the 4th grade etc..

To my understanding, no one was doing that. People were comparing YSV to Darchei, and then Darchei to Ashar. Nothing to do with Ateres Tzvi, it was just about the secular education.

That's OK. That is why there are different schools. I was told 👎 when I asked around about sending to DN.
