I work remotely and am located in a different state than my supervisor. Recently got a new supervisor, so we've actually never met in person.
What is the normal (professionally preferred) amount of notification necessary that I will need to take maternity leave? (Since he won't see me around the office...) I am due in October.

I don't think it makes a difference if you see your superior. Regular time frame of notice is still applicable. Usually 4-6 months notice.
