My 2.5, 4 and 5 yr old are all in one room and all go to sleep at the same time. Bedtime has become a party with the kids all talking / bouncing together with one mean mommy trying to get them quiet at some normal hour.
I don't have another bedroom to separate them into.

How can I make bedtime lead to sleeping time in a reasonable timeframe?

No answer, but I'm following this thread. I'm not quite there yet with my kids, but I remember my parents dealing with bedtime troubles and I'd love any tips to avoid them.

Can you stagger bedtime? Put the 2.5 year old to bed first, wait until s/he is asleep, then the next, then the next, each separately, so there isn't so much stimulation when each of them is going to bed?

I have 4 in one bedroom, age 4 - 9.
What I found helped over the years was:
staggering bedtime.
Putting some to sleep in my room and then transferring later.

I would suggest putting the loudest one to sleep in your room. Once she is sleeping and her siblings you can transfer her.

My 2.5 yr old actually could go to sleep the last because she takes a nap. The problem is that she doesn't appreciate her good fortune - she comes straight into the bedroom and plays with the older kids.

I've been putting the older 2 to sleep in my room and transferring but I wanted to get my room back at some point.

And yes, I remember doing the same as a kid and how hard it was for my mother. I guess I'm getting my payback now!
