My DD is unhappy with her job and is considering paralegal.
She likes to do research, she is very bright, has excellent writing skills but does not love to write. She does not mind long hours but does not like extreme stress on the job.
She has a BA but did not major in anything.
Tell me about the job, what schooling and what is the pay range in New Jersey.

I'm an attorney and I think the experience is going to vary based on the type of law.
In my firm, the paras certainly don't do research. It's very clerical. A lot of filling forms, and preparing certain prescribed legal filings. There wouldn't be lots of room for creativity. The paras that want to actually do the legal work wind up going to law school after a few years.
Paras are also often expected to work long hours, but that may also vary by firm. They'll probably get paid more than the average secretary/administrative assistant.
