How do you teach, say a 2 yr old about Hashem? You can Hashem this or that, but who is Hashem to a 2 yr old?

Of course, no two two year olds are the same. But, generally speaking, I think that a baby at 24 months is a little young to grasp such a concept.

You can try at 2...why not? But the folllowing explanation is more likely to work with three year olds. I think Rosh Hashana is an opportune time, because we talk about Hashem alot as a King (and in Elul) I told ds that Hashem made everything. Including him and Ima and Abba. (You should have seen his eyes get really wide with amazement. It was so funny! )
With Elul and "the king is in the field" I explained that Hashem was a king, but not like the Kings in the world, because he is king of all the kings. He is in charge of everyone in the world. This concept seemed to blow his mind a bit, like the first one, but he understood it enough to be amazed by it, if you know what I mean.

Hashem is here Hashem is there Hashem is truly everywhere
Up up down down right left and all around here there and everywhere
That's where He can be found.
That's about as much as they can understand at age 2.

Or that they want to be just like daddy/tatty.

Yes, it is really cute...at one stage, when my son was two, he would pick up anything with writing on it, clutch it like a siddur and start shuckling back and forth!
Once, it was the phone bill! Dh said "That's the right idea, Schneur! Pray that it goes away!"

When a child does a mitzvah (or something that happens to be a mitzvah), tell them how proud Hashem is that you're keeping His Torah, etc., or how proud you are that you're keeping Hashem's mitzvos. Make "Hashem" a household name.
