(Anon not to give away my sn)
I finished reading everything by Agatha Christie & Danielle Steel. I need suggestions of other authors or Y"t will be very long. I like their style because it's kept light, reflects on human nature and has no explicit s-x or heated romance.
Can you pleeeaaassseee help me?

Mary Stewart (romantic thrillers but quite clean. Surprisingly modern tone and writing style considering they were probably published 50 years ago)
L.M. Montgomery (she wrote sweet, funny novels aside from her Anne books)
Carol Snow
Helen Simonson
Rhys Bowen
The first two are "vintage" while the rest are current authors.

I love Agatha Christie books!
Carola Dunn. She writes Daisy Dalrymple mysteries that take place in England in the 1920s. Light, nothing at all explicit and an enjoyable read.
Murder She Wrote series, by (pen name) Jessica Fletcher.
If you like British humor and don't mind/enjoy reading older books, P. G. Wodehouse is super clean and light.

Ellis Peters, the Brother Cadfael mysteries
Ann B. Ross, the Miss Julia series
Rhys Bowen
Joanne Fluke or MC Beaton for very cozy mystery with light romance

Donna Andrews Meg Langslow series.
Jo Dereske's Helma Zukas series.
There was a series I read years ago by D. R. Meredith that I don't remember well but might fit the bill.

They aren't what I'd consider heated or explicit.
Thank you everyone, shabbos, pink, maya, smss and amother for these suggestions .
I will take the list with me to the library and try them out! 😄

I second Dorothy Sayers!
Jane Austen: truly funny and light.
Martha Grimes (sometimes a bit dark but nothing crazy, and often hysterical).

Oh yes- Dorothy Sayers! Start with Murder Must Advertise.
And for Maeve Binchy, start with Scarlet Feather or A Week in Winter.

I just read a PD James mystery- shroud for a nightingale- that I really enjoyed and it fits your criteria. She has a whole series based on the same detective and I’m going to look out for more of them.

How about Alexander McCall Smith? He writes fun mysteries with great characters. Light breezy reading, but not garbage.

Fannie Flagg as a contemporary author though I have not read much of her. Jane Austen is a joy to read -- human nature was definitely her thing I recommend starting with Pride and Prejudice, Emma or Sense & Sensibility.

Fannie Flagg is fairly clean. Her grasp of theology is...weird. Not that I'd have any great expectations but the payoff in her last book, The Whole Town is Talking, was extremely unsatisfying. And one of her books, can't remember anything about this but the following, featured a Mr. and Mrs. Gd
One can say the same about Mitch Albom's books but they are a bit more satisfying.
